Committee

At Surrey Spartans we run a tightly organised committee who come together regularly to push the club forward, having regular meetings with the University club and our Head of Hockey, who looks after all hockey activity at Surrey Sports Park. 

 

Chairman - Tony Denton 

Tony is the figure head of our club; he oversees all activities and is the one who is looking to develop the long-term vision for the club. Developing a brand new development plan, finding sponsorship opportunities’ and attending the regular England hockey forums to keep us in the loop with all changes coming nationally and regionally within hockey, as well as sharing our experiences as a club with the recently formed partnership with the University of Surrey HC & Surrey Sports Park. You will regularly find Tony on the side lines supporting or being our photographer. 

 

Club Captain - Vacant

Head of Hockey - Kristian Browne 

Kristian joined the club 2 years ago from a large hockey club in the midlands. Bringing lots of experience of knowledge to the club seeing players develop and us gain a much needed promotion. He is passionate about making the club grow and compete at a good level and utilising the links between the University club and Spartans to be real contenders in the Surrey Leagues. He is always keen to welcome new players and aims to make training sessions fun and engaging and pushing everyone to improve.  

Coach - Stuart Clarke

Stu has joined the club with a wealth and knowledge with many years coaching in the Surrey counties set up and has a vast knowledge on how to buidl teams and get the best out of players while making sessions fun and engaging. 

Child protection & disciplinary officer - Amanda Alkema

Mandy looks after the safety of all the club members to make sure we have the correct policies and procedure in place, making sure we are keeping everyone in the club safe and happy. She is always available to listen to any issues and complaints you have and also handles all matter involving members behaviour on match days or training as we aim to be an inclusive club and respectful to all teams and officials we come across and take behaviour of our members very seriously.

Social Rep - David Hurrell

David is our social representative and helps organise various events and gatherings to make the club come together and have a good time. Our main events include the Christmas Dinner & Annual Dinner which sees us team up with the University Hockey Club due to the large cross over of members. We are always on the hunt for tournaments to be a part of and also run our own with the help of the committee. Hosted in the Summer at the Sports Park having teams come and get involved in a social 6 a side tournament.
